Why we love it

We favour wood, but chose these for their accuracy. True-to-life detail helps children name and sort the real animal world, and they last long enough to pass down.

Signs your child is ready

Wants to know the name of everything
Notices small details like spots and stripes
Likes putting things into groups

Grows with them

18 monthsNaming: pick one up and say "this is a lion"
2 yearsMatching each figurine to a photo of the real animal
3 yearsSorting by first sound: lion, lemur, lizard

Ages are a rough guide. Your child will show you when they're ready.

Our tip

Take them into the bath. Ask which ones float and which sink, or hand your toddler a small brush and soap to wash the farm animals.

Watch out for Some have pointy horns, tails or legs. They are made for 3 years and up, so stay close if you introduce them earlier.
