Sensory & Fine Motor Art Class

A fine motor class for toddlers and their grown-up

A weekly 90-minute class for children aged 1.5 to 3, together with a parent or caregiver. Each week your toddler works on one skill their hands are busy learning right now: pinching, tearing, threading, squeezing, rolling. You sit beside them the whole time.

We care about the doing, not a perfect result. Even so, every child takes home what they made.

🕒 How a session runs

1. We start in a circle with a welcome song to wake up fingers and hands.
2. Then the main work. Each child has their own place at the table, materials set out and ready, and you beside them. The activity changes every week and always practises one specific skill: sorting with wooden tongs, tearing, threading, kneading, sticking, stamping.
3. Some weeks we add a practical life activity with real tools and real food. Cutting a banana, peeling an apple, squeezing an orange. Small tasks toddlers watch adults do all day and are keen to try themselves.
4. We tidy up together and close with a goodbye song.

🍂 What we make this term

October is autumn in the city. Sorting chestnuts and pinecones with wooden tongs, tearing paper canals, kneading spiced pumpkin dough, and building lampions for Sint Maarten.

November follows Sinterklaas and Amsterdam traditions. Sticking windows onto canal houses, threading garlands for the steamboat, slotting carrots into shoe boxes for Ozosnel, and rolling pepernoten dough.

December closes the term with stamped gift sacks for Pakjesavond and pinecone ornaments to keep.

- 10 sessions, Thursdays at 10:30, 8 October to 10 December
- 90 minutes per session
- Aprons and all materials provided. Dress for mess.
